Henri Bresc

'' Henri Bresc '', is a French historian who is an expert on the medieval period.

== Biography ==
A student of the prestigious high school of Thiers Marseille, Bresc graduated in 1964 to 'École Normale Supérieure, where in the same year he won a competition as history associate professor.〔(Humanities and Social Sciences )〕
Initially he worked as a teacher in two French high schools: the high school of French speaking in Cairo (1964-1965) and the high school of Marceau Chartres from 1965 to 1967 when he obtained the professor chair of history in Palermo, in a branch of the School of Rome. He worked in the Sicilian capital until 1974, when he became assistant and professor of medieval history at the University of Paris West Nanterre La Défense, where he remained until 1982.
Professor of History at the 'University of Nice from 1982 to 1990, in that year returned to the Paris X Nanterre, where he had the role of professor until 2008, year in when he retired and was replaced by Gabriel Martinez-Gros. He was also director of the "Center of social and cultural historical research of the West" (CHSCO).〔('' Henri Bresc '' ), Dario Flaccovio Publisher〕
In 1981 he published under the direction of Michel Mollat du Jourdin, one of his most famous works: '' A Mediterranean world economy and society in Sicily, 1300-1450 '', derived from his book thesis.
On March 5, 2002 's University of Palermo he awarded him with a honorary degree (honoris causa) in Humanities, Philosophy and Letters;〔(''Lauree honoris causa a Henri Bresc e Max Pfister: Due attenti osservatori della Sicilia medioevale'' )〕 the April 30, 2005 the town of Troina granted him the honorary citizenship, the February 9, 2012 he was appointed honorary academician of the Academy Teutonic "Enrico VI Hohenstaufen".〔(IL PROF.
